Slimming World Toffee / Marshmallow Brownies – 1.5 Syns
Low Syn Chocolate Brownies!
I was trying to think of something that describes these chocolate brownies in one line for my heading. However, I don’t think anything witty is required at all. On slimming world, we’re generally in a world where chocolate, cake and brownies are a taboo subject. Cakes and chocolate are the kind of things that we generally crave from time to time. Now, we can indeed have our cake and eat it (in moderation, of course!)
One of the main problems with making cakes with Slimming World is getting the taste and texture correct. Most of the time, cakes will come out tasting overwhelmingly of egg or, be too high in syns to enjoy.
This recipe manages to finely balance the two to make something that tastes like a chocolate brownie, and still being low enough in syns to not ruin your day.
Quick to make
This recipe, from start to finish, will be ready in less than half an hour. Start by switching the oven on to 180 degrees C (gas mark 4). Whilst taking 5-10 minutes to mix your ingredients, the oven can pre-heat. Then it’s just 15 minutes in the oven to cook to perfection.
I’m taking a batch of these to our taster session in group tonight. I normally do savoury items that are syn free but, as we’re not in Free Food February any more I thought I would try something different.
Toffee / Marshmallow Brownies - 1.5 Syn
- 50 g Self Raising Flour
- 2 Eggs
- 1 tsp Baking Powder
- 2 tsp Cocoa Powder
- 4 tsp Choc Shot
- 1 tsp Vanilla Essence
- 2 tbsp Fat Free Greek Yoghurt just the natural one
- 2 tbsp Sukrin Sweetner
- 1 Curly Wurly
- 2 Marshmallows not the tiny ones that you put in your hot chocolate
Add the flour, baking powder and eggs into a mixing bowl, and mix to get rid of all the lumps.
Mix in the cocoa powder, choc shot, sweetener and vanilla essence and stir until smooth.
Stir in the Greek Yoghurt.
Chop the marshmallow into pieces and stir into the mixture.
Line a loaf tin, pour the mixture in and level off.
Chop up the curly wurly and place on top of the brownie mixture.
Bake for approximately 15 minutes. When removed from the oven, the brownie will still feel a little soft in the middle but, leave it to rest and it will set.
The syns in this recipe have been calculated as follows:
8 syns for the self raising flour
0.5 syns for the baking powder
2 syns for the cocoa powder
2 syns for the choc shot
6 syns for the curly wurly
2 syns for the marshmallows
1 syn for the sweetener
21.5 syns in total, over 16 portions works out at just under 1.5 syns per piece.
You could actually split this into 15 pieces and it would still be 1.5 syns per piece
