Slimming World Zinger Chicken Fillet – 2 Syns

Another fakeaway winner, that’s quick and easy to prepare

Being a family man, we have kids that love takeaways. I’ve lost count of the number of times that we’re asked for McDonald’s, KFC or Burger King. Generally, I don’t mind the occasional drive out to a takeaway for a treat for the kids. I can normally resist the temptation, deliver their takeaway then have something on-plan afterwards. However, sometimes we do quite fancy our takeaway treats. This recipe is fairly similar to the KFC Zinger Chicken Fillet burger. It’s relatively easy to make and once it’s in the oven, only needs turning the once so you can boil some corn on the cob or even knock up a quick coleslaw for a side.

I thought I would try this recipe out on the kids as they’re pretty harsh judges when it comes to cooking and new meal suggestions. The general feedback was extremely positive and, this will be another recipe that I make again.

I’ve not tried freezing this recipe yet. However, there’s no reason why it can’t be frozen. The only thing to bear in mind is that the crispy coating won’t be crispy any more if re-heated in the microwave. However, please feel free to leave feedback if you’ve tried reheating it and let me know.

Slimming World Zinger Chicken Fillet – 2 Syns

KFC Style Zinger Burger
Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 35 minutes
Total Time 50 minutes
Servings 4

  • 30 Grams Chilli Heatwave Doritos
  • 1 tsp Cornflour
  • 1 tsp Chilli Powder
  • 1 tsp Garlic Granules
  • 1 tsp Onion Granules
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 4 Chicken Breasts
  • 1 Egg

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celcius (350 Fahrenheit, gas mark 4).
  2. Put the Doritos, cornflour and all the spices into a bag, and crush until you have a crumby type mixture, with some slightly larger pieces of Doritos left for a crunchy coating.

  3. Beat the egg into a bowl. Coat each of the chicken breasts in the egg, and sprinkle both sides with some Doritos mixture. Personally, I sprinkle a little of the mixture onto a sheet of greaseproof paper, then rest the chicken fillet on top and then sprinkle more mixture onto the top of the fillet.
  4. Spray with Frylight and bake for 20 minutes.
  5. Turn the chicken breasts over, spray with more frylight and return to the oven for a further 15 minutes.
  6. Serve with salad on a wholemeal bun for your healthy B choice.

Recipe Notes

In this recipe, 30g of Doritos works out to be 7.5 syns. 1tsp Cornflour is 0.5 syns, giving a total of 8 syns, spread over 4 portions.

What do you do with the cor floir please?

Ah, sorry, I didn’t make that clear. I’ll edit the recipe. The cornflour goes in with the spices and Doritos to make the coating.
